Thinking of proposing in Hokkaido?
Every place below is somewhere
I have actually photographed a surprise proposal — real shoots,
not a guidebook list.
The spot is always chosen around the season, the light and the two of you.

Mt. Tenguyama, Otaru — winter
Above the port town of Otaru, with the sea below.
In winter the summit is covered in snow and quiet, and the afternoon light turns soft early.
Best in the last light of the day.
Otaru itself is busy these days — it is loved well beyond Japan —
so where exactly, and at what hour, matters.
I choose the quiet edges of the town, and the times when the crowds thin.

Lake Toya
A wide, calm lake that stays open through winter.
Spring on the bare shore, autumn maples over the water, snow at the edge in winter —
and Mt. Yotei across the lake on clear days.
Space, silence, and room for the moment to happen naturally.

Furano — lavender fields in July
For about two weeks in mid-July the lavender is at its fullest.
A proposal here happens inside the colour, not in front of it.

Biei and Furano— flower hills in summer
Rolling patchwork hills and flower fields under a wide sky.
Long views in every direction, and almost no one around once you step away from the famous viewpoints.

Mt. Yotei — snow fields in winter
Open snow fields with Mt. Yotei filling the sky.
On a clear winter day there is nothing between the two of you and the mountain.

Sapporo — the red brick in snow or Moerenuma Park
In front of the Former Hokkaido Government Office, in the middle of the city.
In winter the grounds turn white and quiet — an easy plan within a short stay in Sapporo.
Moerenuma Park is a landscape designed by Isamu Noguchi — the whole park is one sculpture.
In winter its smooth green mountain turns white, and in the middle of Sapporo it feels like somewhere else entirely.

Shakotan — the coast at sunset
A rocky coast facing the setting sun.
The light drops straight into the sea, and the proposal happens in the last minutes of colour.

I take one couple a day, and I am the person who plans the spot with you and photographs it. Proposal shoot plans and prices: https://www.lykkephotostyle.com/portrait-price-family-proposal/
